etsi von fuerit Amphidromiorum publica sollennitas, sed privatorum affectibus conscrata: tamen hîc omittenda nonfuit, quodcum omnes sigillatim homines specter, etiam Δημοτελὴς appellari quodammodo videarut. Igitur Α᾿μφιδρόμια, vel ut alii scribunt, Α᾿μφιδρομία peragebantur a parentibus die quintô post partum, hôc ritu. Infantem gestantes circum lares focumque currebant: Domestick et amici tamquam gratulabundi dona conferebant. Hesych. amplius tum nomina pueris imponi solita scribit: Α᾿μφιδομία, inquit, ἡμέρα ἀγομένη τοῖς παιδίοις, εν ᾗ τὸ Βρέφος περὶ την` ἑςτίαν ἐφερον τβέχοντες κύκλῳ, καὶ ἐπιτίθεσαν ἀυτῷ ὄνομα, ὅτι ὑπὸ τῶν ὀικείων καὶ φίλων δῶρα ἐπέμπετο. Ex quibus sequi videtur, Amphidromia fuisle Romanorum Nominalibus affinia. Idem tamen auctor postea sui velut oblitus, decimô die nomina demum imponi tradit: τῇ δεκάτῃ ἡμέρα τὰ ὀνόματα τοῖς Βρέφεσιν ἐτίθεσαν. Atqui si Amphidromia die quinrô celebrantur, Nominalia decimô, eadem esse nequeunt. Aliô locô vocat δρομτάφιον ἦμαρ. Ε῎ςτι δὲ ἡμερῶν ἑπτὰ λ᾿πὸ τῆς γενέσεως, εν ᾗ τὸ Βρέφος Βαςτάροντες περὶ τὴν ἑςτίαν γυμνὸι τρέχουτι. Igitur acta die quintô Amphidromia, quod hoc spatium snfficere putarent ad ea curanda; quae partum ipsum spectant. Hinc etiam obstetrices, et quae adfuissent enitenti, manus abluebant, et quasi munere suô iam perfunctae, in posterum nutricibus habendam infantis curam ostendebant. Etymolog. Α᾿μφιδρόμια, inquit, ἑορτή ἐςτιν Α᾿ςθήνησι τελουμένη, καθ᾿ ἣν ἐγκρυφίου ἄρτου ὀπτομένου, ἐπὶ τῆς ἑςτίας ἐπιτρέχουσι. Τὸ δὲ ἀυτὸ ποιοῦτι καὶ μετὰ σκευῆς εἰς τὰ Βρέφη παρὰ την` ἑςτίαν περιφέροντες, ἐπειδὴ κουροτρόφος ἤ τροφὸς ἐπὶ τίνων πεφήμιςται.
